Summary
The Onboarding and Retention Lead will be responsible for enhancing the new hire experience by designing and managing a consistent onboarding journey. This role will serve as a point of contact for new hires, partner with managers to develop resources and training, monitor and improve onboarding metrics, and manage other “Moments that Matter,� which includes managers of new hires, job transitions, exiting, implementations, and boomerang associates through engagement and retention programs and analysis. The Onboarding and Retention Lead will work closely with Talent Engagement and Talent Experience departments to strategize and shift efforts as the landscape of the engagement space changes and evolves.
This opportunity will work from home, but will require coming into the office (Indianapolis, IN) several times a year for team meetings and projects.
Responsibilities
Onboarding (40%)
Enhance the new hire experience by designing and managing a consistent onboarding journey for new hires, including hosting live, engaging new associate sessions, and other virtual engagement opportunities.
Serve as a point of contact for new associates, providing support and guidance throughout their first year.
Partner with the business to develop resources and training for both them and their new hires, and conduct training to reinforce our positive workplace culture.
Liaise with other departments (IT, facilities, finance, etc) to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
Partner with our HR implementation team to create a seamless transition experience, tailored to our various types of implementations throughout the year.
Utilize persona-based onboarding tracks to make the experience more personalized to fit the needs of associates.
Moments that Matter and Action Planning (40%)
Overseeing early engagement, managers of new hires, transitioning associates’ interviews (internal moves and exiting), reboarding/boomerang associates, etc., through:
Developing and monitoring KPI’s to measure outcomes and watch for developing themes through our surveying tool (Peakon).
Deep analysis of data to continuously improve the process and drive associate engagement and retention.
Providing a continuous feedback loop with other departments to allow them to adapt to themes showing up for their areas.
Reviewing and responding to comments, flagging and escalating as appropriate.
System Administration (10%)
Maintaining the survey platform (Peakon) by
Monitoring the setup for the “Moments that Matter� Surveys
Keeping up with system upgrades and proactively testing to avoid mistakes or issues ahead of time.
Utilize Workday onboarding to build and manage the automated portion of the new hire or internal move process to
Understand the business process.
Test out new or changing features, particularly during the 2 major releases throughout the year.
Continue to look for ways to streamline the process without losing our human connection.
Research and Strategy (10%)
Attend webinars and trainings along with reviewing articles to understand emerging strategies and tactics, both internally and externally, pivoting direction as necessary with the Director, Talent Experience.
Explore automation and AI opportunities to make our associate engagement lifecycle more personalized.
Consider new ways to make an impact through these crucial touchpoints.
Collaborate with the Talent Engagement Lead and Director, Talent Experience to strategize and adapt efforts as needed.
All other Duties as Assigned.
Skills and Experience
A minimum of five or more years of experience in the human resource space with a focus on people analytics, program development, engagement strategy, learning, training, and/or project management is required.
A clear passion for engagement and creating a positive associate experience.
Ability to analyze large sets of data and correlate data points to spot any current or future issues and develop action plans to solve any problems.
Strong project management and organizational skills to deploy action plans within the engagement team or with our departments.
Proven ability to work autonomously to find and figure out information and solutions, and, prioritize their work.
Ability to design and oversee onboarding and retention programs.
Prior work with understanding, keeping up with system upgrades, testing, and leveraging Workday onboarding, Peakon Employee Voice, or other technology to enhance the associates' experience is preferred.
Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills to serve as a point of contact for new hires and managers, plus conduct engaging training sessions.
Experience in developing resources, templates, light training, and partnering with the business to create agile and scalable solutions.
Experience in helping drive engagement programs and projects.
Willingness to truly be open to change and adapt as priorities shift or opportunities unfold.
Education and Qualifications
Associate degree is required, or equivalent work experience
